grinders

Marijuana use is booming! By 2022 it will be an over 4 billion dollar legal industry. With access now being easier than ever many new and experienced users are heading back to basics to learn how to properly enjoy the miracle leaf.

That’s why we decided to put together a simple guide for one of the most basic tools…the grinder. We are going to break down everything you need to know about this convenient tool, so let’s get started!

Types of Grinders

There are several different types of grinders. Each grinder has its pros and cons. Here are the different varieties to choose from.

Wooden

These grinders are visually very stunning. Interesting wood grain patterns make them nice to look at, however, when it comes down to efficacy they fall flat.

They are usually only 2 chambered meaning that much of the keif is lost when the marijuana is ground. These grinders also have difficulty breaking up larger denser pieces of marijuana.

There are however wooden sifter boxes that are specially designed to capture and hold the small pieces of life. These boxes are defiantly worth your while.

Acrylic

These grinders are great because they are inexpensive and easy to find. However, because the grinder is made up entirely of plastic, including the grinding teeth, it can be difficult to break up certain marijuana.

These grinders are good if you are on a budget, but in the long run, having to replace them frequently will end up costing you.

Metal

These are by far the most durable grinders. They come in a variety of different metals ranging from aluminum to titanium. There is a grinder for every budget. You will find that most metal grinders have at least 3 chambers.

Grinders with 3 chambers let the ground up marijuana pass through holes to a holding chamber. Grinders with 4 chambers do the same thing, however, they have an extra chamber to collect all of the residual pollen or kief.

How to Use

Using a grinder is simple, and when you use a grinder you will be protecting the delicate buds from sticking to your fingers.

To start simply break larger buds down into tiny enough pieces that they can fit into the grinder. Be careful not to squeeze too hard or you will lose keif and resin. Once in the grinder, twist the top of the grinder until the weed grind is to your liking.

Open the lid and pour out the ground marijuana and enjoy! If you have an extra chamber, let your keif build up over time and use it accordingly.

How to Clean

Due to the unique chemistry of marijuana, it can be very sticky! Try putting your grinder in the freezer before cleaning as it will help loosen some of the keif build-up.

From there use a stiff-bristled brush to clean the grinder. A mix of isopropyl alcohol and salt is a tried and true cleaning method that works great for grinder cleaning.

Finding the Right Grinder

When choosing a grinder set a budget and go from there. There are choices for every style and every budget. No matter which style you choose, be sure to clean it frequently to make it last!
